Sometimes, a bad news just turns into so many good ones!!

As we were doing fieldwork around Ngweshla, we had a shock absorber issue on my car, so we decided to cut the fieldwork short and make our way back to Main Camp. As we were driving along the Kennedy vlei, Bloomer tapped on my shoulder, speachless. After a few seconds, he manages to say the magic word: "leopard"!!! What??? Yes, it was sleeping on a log, 10m away from an old elephant bull!!! By the time I reversed, it ran into the bush, but we still had a good glimpse of it.

From here, we were settled for the Big 5 in one day! We saw the bufalo a couple of km further down the road. An old dugga boy on his own. By now we were more than ready for the lion and the rhino.

This is when it happened again. As the sun was setting and we enjoyed this magical golden light of Africa, we spotted something lying on the road, the size of a big lion cub. Except it had spots and was actually another leopard!! What do I say, it was actually 2 leopards!! 2 youngsters, playing and resting on the road. We first kept our distance then slowly moved closer, as the night was falling. They were nice enough to allow us within metres of them, and even walked to the car to sniff the tyres and have a good look a the 3 humans looking at them with the most amazed look ever!!

Afetr an hour spent with them, we resumed our journey to K1, leaving them alone still playing on the road.

    Enjoy!!

Oh, and I almost forgot, Oliver the lion was waiting for us at K1. He welcomed us roaring as loud as he could. What a nice day in the bush!

Unfortunately, we didn't see the rhino, but it's best to save it for another day, it would have been too much to ask!!

    Wow, sweet!

That must have been a fantastic day. Those leopards are just too cute! They seem so harmless, playing like little domestic cats!!! Thanks for sharing the pics!!!

    A + dans le bush!
