Marakele National Park
Marakele is a small national park and we didn't think much of it. We were just looking for a relaxed few days in the bush. And I must say we enjoyed our stay there beyond expectations!!
The park is divided in 2 sections. The small western section has the Bontle rest camp where you can camp and book a chalet and is home only to plain game and rhinos. The eastern section is surrounded by electrical fencing and is occupied but the big 5 and one of the few remaining breeding colony of Cape vultures.
The landscape in the park is ever changing, between wooded savanna and montane forest. And the drive up the mountain to the top of the cliffs is quite eerie. Some protea tress were blooming up there, and klipspringers are common sighting.
