  • We spotted her lying in the open plain as we were drving to Dom. Of course, I couldn't resist, so I got closer.

It was not so easy to see her in the bushes hey!

    Jess, Main Camp leopardess!

However,  we were on a hyaena mission, so we resumed our drive to Guvalala, really happy with our nice leopard sighting!

But Jess wasn't done with us! As we came back around 10pm, we spotted a hyaena on the road. As she went off we saw a younf kudu carcass by the side of the road. It was a fresh kill and I imediately checked for signal from Jess's collar (yes she is collared, and yes it is really ungly, but well research hey!) and BINGO: very strong signal. She was just there. But I work in hyaeana so I tried to go off road to have a closer look at the one.  And as I drove, I looked up bit accias tree, and there was Jess, lying on a branch, resting and licking herself. She was very confident and relaxed, allowing us to park right under her!

When she was done, she decided to go back to her kil, now that the hyaenas were gone.

After feeding for a few minutes, she decided to pull her kill safely up a tree to finish it at her leisure. This is when we decided to leave her alone and go back home.

    Waht a night!!!
