  • Hey!

So here is the plan for my next trip in Southern Africa for the next 2 months.

We'll start by a week driving from Vic Falls to Windhoek through Botswana (~1 200km). It'll be my first time in the Okavango delta and in Chobe and Moremi.

From there, 2 weeks in Northern Namibia await us (~2 200km). Lots of off road driving in the rocky desert ahead.

    New trip

And then, another 2 weeks in Botswana (~2 200km). This time we'll also visit the Central Kalahari, Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans NPs, before going back to the delta.

    New trip

Hopefully, all will go according to plan.

I doubt I will have internet access from the remote areas we'll be visiting, so you'll have to wait my return in Europe early Octobre for the pictures and trip road book...

Now, let's go back to the bush!!!

  • Hi there!

This is it, 4 years after starting the Hwange Hyaena Project for my PhD I am done. I defended in Lyon on the 10th of July and had all my family and friends to celebrate the end of this long but awesome journey!

I'm happy but sad at the same time. I really enjoyed working on this project and hope that I will find something as interesting and challenging in the future...

Nest step is now well deserved holidays: 2 months between Zim, Botswana and Namibia!!! So stay tuned for the upcoming pictures and story of this new road trip!!!

    Cheers!

    End of the PhD journey...

  • Just came back from 2 weeks in SA.

I spent a week in Kruger NP for the annual Savanna Science Network meeting, where everyone working on savanna ecosystems, from plants to mammals, birds, fire & management present their work and join to discuss their projects.

It's a nice networking opportunity & I presented my work on hyaenas as well.

Then I flew to Cape Town (CT) to spend 4 days with 2 friends from Lyon. It was a great time, this city location is just superb! Between the endless see side (I should say ocean side) and the surrounding  mountains, there is so much to do and to see!!!

We spend a lot of time outside enjoying a very nice weather and also shared great food and wine!

    South Africa, March 2014

Next trip to Africa is planned for August 2014: road trip to Botswana and Namibia again!!!

But first, let's finish this PhD....

    Cheers!
